Panthers Drop Series Opener to Barry, 8-2

MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – Florida Tech struck first but couldn't maintain momentum as Barry surged ahead with late-inning offense to take the series opener, 8-2, on Friday night.

STATS OF THE GAME:
  • Gabe Garrett to the home base in the top of the first inning, giving the Panthers an early lead behind an error on the Buccaneers, Tech up 1-0.
  • The Bucs responded immediately in the bottom of the first inning with three runs from a Felix Diaz double and a Nick Toms single to take their first lead, 3-1.
  • After five scoreless innings from both sides, Tech got back on the board behind a Jaden Hill single to left field, bringing home Anthony Fimiano, 3-2.
  • In response, in back-to-back innings, the Bucs blew the game open with a total of five runs.
  • The first run came via an error by the Panthers, a double from Savi Delgado, a double from Harry Vargas Seguera, and a double from Murchael Turner.
  • The Panthers would not get on base looking to answer the late run from Barry and would take the loss, 8-2.
  • Jacob Pino got the start for the Panthers and took the loss, lasting one-third of an inning, giving up two hits and three runs while walking none and striking out none.
  • Sean Means, Bryson Walker, Brayden DiCerb, and Nicholas Jukovich saw time on the mound in relief.
  • Means lasted four innings, giving up four hits and zero runs while walking three and striking out none. Walker lasted one and two-thirds innings, giving up zero hits and two runs while walking one and striking out one.
