What is your major at Florida Tech and why did you choose it?
I study Biology. Originally, I thought I would study Marine Biology, but my home country of Switzerland is landlocked, so I wanted to keep it more general. I've always been fascinated with nature and the outdoors and coming to Florida Tech helped me grow that passion.
What is one thing about Biology that made you pick that major?
I was mainly interested in plants, the botany field, and especially aquatic plants, freshwater aquatic plants, and algae.
At Florida Tech, do you have a favorite class or Professor?
They actually go hand in hand, my favorite class was ecology, and that was with my favorite Professor, Dr. Miller. He's so passionate about what he teaches and what he tells us about, it also goes with what I am interested in.
Â
What are your plans after you graduate from Florida Tech?
I am not entirely sure, I may take a gap year for field work but I may want to go get a master's or even a PHD. I want to do work that is good for the earth and its environment, but also allows me to be outdoors with nature.
Â
How has academics here at Florida Tech helped you grow as a person?
Coming here, I had to learn a lot about time management between my studies and soccer. Classes are more challenging, and I have more to do besides playing soccer. It has also helped me grow as a person because I was able to figure out what I want to do in the future.
Â
What advice would you give to a prospective international student or an incoming Freshman coming into Florida Tech?
Make as many friends as you can. I now have friends from all over the world, not just because of soccer, but from meeting people in class. You meet a lot of different people from a lot of different places here.
