Baseball Takes Both Games In First Doubleheader, Sweeps Spring Hill

Melbourne, Florida – Florida Tech Baseball closed out opening weekend against Spring Hill with their first doubleheader of the 2026 season. In both games, the Tech bats put up double-digit runs to complete the series sweep of the Badgers.

GAME NOTES - GAME ONE:
  • Spring Hill opened today's double header by scoring a run in three of the first four innings to take an early 3-0 lead.
  • Despite giving up early runs, AJ Wydra worked through the traffic on the bases to limit the damage and keep Tech within striking distance.
  • The Panthers finally struck in the bottom of the fourth with hits from Anthony Fimiano and Gabe Roque that led to a three-run inning.
  • Tech earned a one-run lead in the fifth after Fimiano reached on a Badger error to score Marcelo Cortale.
  • Spring Hill answered back with a three-spot in the top of the sixth, then added two more in the seventh to take an 8-4 lead.
  • Tech got one back in the bottom of the seventh, but the Badgers answered to stay up four with 6 outs left.
  • Needing a big inning, the Panthers batted around in the bottom of the eighth. Cole Patrick, BJ Graham, Adrian Dominguez and Brian Perez all earned RBI plate appearances as the Panthers stormed back to take the lead.
  • Blake Holshouser took the ball in the top of the ninth and shut the door, giving the Panthers the game one win.

GAME NOTES - GAME TWO:
  • After an electric come-from-behind victory in game one, the Panthers opened up game two with a two-spot in the bottom of the first.
  • Hunter Stolov kept Spring Hill off the board for a second straight inning as Tech led 2-0 heading into the third.
  • The Badgers finally got on the board with a three-run third inning, but Gabe Roque answered in the bottom of the third with a one-out triple before scoring on a wild pitch to tie the game at 3-3.
  • After another zero from Stolov, Tech batted around for the second time, sending eleven hitters to the plate in the bottom of the fourth.
  • Tyler McClanahan led off the inning with a double and before the Badgers could record an out, seven Panthers reached base and scored four runs.
  • After a six-run inning, Spring Hill answered with two runs, but Tech was still in control 10-5 as the game entered the final three innings.
  • In the bottom of the seventh, Anthony Fimiano earned his third extra base hit of the contest with a triple before scoring on an Adrian Dominguez double to take an 11-5 lead.
  • Spring Hill attempted a comeback by putting up four runs in their final six outs, but Freshman Jaxon Clampitt closed out the game with a two-out save as the Panthers completed the series sweep.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Tech is now 5-0 in series openers under Head Coach Jeff Tam.
  • Anthony Fimiano's three extra-base performance in game two is the first from a Panther since April of 2023.
  • Jeff Davis is the first Panther since 2019 to have a three-steal game (game two).
UP NEXT: Panther Baseball will head on the road for the first time this season next week. Tech will travel to face Valdosta State in a Thursday, Friday, Saturday series.
