Tech Stumbles on the Road at RV North Greenville

TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The Florida Tech men's lacrosse team returned to the road on Saturday afternoon in South Carolina with a match up against North Greenville. The Trailblazers defeated the Panthers 12-6 with the help of a 5-0 run over a two-minute span late in the first quarter.

GAME NOTES
 
FIRST QUARTER

•  Both goalies were tested early as Gavin Stecher and Jack Cornwell were denied by Matthew Desmond and Jonah Borynec hit the post, while Ryder Hamilton hit the crossbar for North Greenville.
•  Joe Coveleski opened the scoring at 10:16 taking a pass from Max Henry and beating Desmond at his near post for his third goal of the season.
•  Tech won the ensuing faceoff and nearly doubled their lead through Thomas Strong by his shot was denied by Desmond. 
•  The Trailblazers equalized on their next attack at 9:07 on Nick Meier's close-range shot. 
•  Florida Tech went a man down at 8:26 for one minute but successfully killed the penalty, allowing only one shot. 
•  Not long after returning to full strength, Jonah Borynec held off several NGU defenders to put the Panthers back in front with his first goal of the campaign at 7:03. 
•  A patient attack from North Greenville ended with a Caden Castle goal at 4:04 to tie the score.  
•  The Crimson and Gray won the ensuing faceoff thanks to Shale Seager, who very nearly scored straight from it, only to be stopped by Desmond.
•  After a successful clearance, quick passing set up a goal-scoring opportunity for Aydan Sizemore, who converted to give the Trailblazers a 3-2 advantage at 3:06.  
•  20 seconds after winning the face-off, NGU were on the board again through Castle's second. 
  •  Another faceoff win led to another North Greenville score, as Hamilton found the net at 2:10 to make it 5-2 to the hosts.
•  The Trailblazers followed the formula again to take a 6-2 lead at 1:54.
•  Florida Tech would go a man up thanks to a slashing penalty at 1:46 and needed only 21 seconds to take advantage as Strong's top-shelf missile gave him two for the game and broke the NGU run to bring the Panthers within 6-3. 
 
 
SECOND QUARTER
•  North Greenville had the opening attack of the quarter but a pair of saves from Francisco kept it a three-goal game. 
•  Tech was unable to capitalize and a turnover led to a quick transition for the NGU attack, which ended in Castle's third goal and 7-3 margin at 12:35. 
•  A tripping penalty gave the Panthers the man-up at 8:37 but they were unable to register a shot before a turnover ended their threat. 
•  A persistent Panther attack ended in a goal at 3:48 when Dawson Long gathered a spilled rebound from a Cornwell shot to make it 7-4 for Long's first goal of the season. 
• The Crimson and Gray would go a man down at 1:22 and North Greenville took advantage as Steven Huls Jr. shot from the right wing found the upper left corner of the net to re-install the Trailblazer advantage to 8-4 with 50 seconds remaining in the half. 
 
THIRD QUARTER
• The Trailblazers won the opening faceoff of the second half and would find the net after 54 seconds on a Castle shot through traffic to extend their lead to 9-4. 
• Neither team were able to break through for the next 11 minutes with Francisco making four saves and Desmond stopping three.   
• Meier broke the drought at 3:54 with a wraparound effort. 
Landon Addleman got the crimson and gray firing again at 1:51, beating Desmond up high from a Ryan Chancer helper. 
• It would stay 10-5 going into the final quarter as Francisco stopped Carson Fuchs just before the buzzer.
 
FOURTH QUARTER
• NGU struck early once again, this time through Yates Miller's wraparound effort after 51 seconds. 
Max Henry got his first of the afternoon and fifth of the season at 6:48 with an assist from Addleman at X. 
• Jackson Reich broke North Greenville's scoreless drought at 4:15 with a solo effort. 
• Florida Tech would get one more man-up opportunity at 3:24 due to a tripping penalty but Desmond kept the Crimson and Gray with a stop of Henry. 
 
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE
• Florida Tech leads the all-time series, 2-1.
• This was the first ever meeting between the schools in Tigerville. 
Carter Batt recorded his 100th career face-off win. He is the seventh player in program history to reach that mark. 
•  Dawson Long's second quarter goal was his first since February 8, 2025, which was also against North Greenville before he suffered a season-ending injury in the same game.   
•  Landon Addleman, Ryan Chancer and Max Henry each tallied two points for Tech.
•  Steve Ulrichs led the Panthers in ground balls with three.
•  Of the four Panthers to cause a turnover, Kevin Wolfe was the only one with multiple with two. 
•  Shale Seager led Florida Tech in face-offs won with five of 13.    
•  Jax Francisco made 12 saves in his 49th career start in the Crimson and Gray, matching Zach Rozgonyi (2021-2024) for the most in program history.    
 
UP NEXT
The Panthers will return home to Rick Stottler Field on Friday, February 27 as they take on Concordia-Irvine. The game is slated to start at 1:00 p.m. EST.
