MELBOURNE, Fla. – Coach Brad MacArthur has announced the hiring of Ryan Johnson to the program's coaching staff. Coach Johnson will serve as an assistant coach for the Panthers. 
 
Ryan Johnson comes to the Sunshine State from Lynchburg, Virginia where he helped the University of Lynchburg to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances including an Elite Eight in 2023 and three Sweet 16 games. Johnson, most recently, served as the offensive coordinator for the Hornets where they produced a program-record 18 goals per game in 2026. 
 
Before returning to his alma mater, Johnson was the Assistant Varsity Lacrosse Coach for Durham Academy. While there, he assisted with creating opponent scouting reports and game plans. Additionally, he helped with practice planning and player development. 
 
"The emergence of Coach Johnson through our selection process was intriguing," said Head Coach Brad MacArthur. "I've spent time on the sidelines of recruiting tournaments discussing aspects of the game with him the past few summers. We shared many values and philosophies, but his ability to articulate other areas of the game that maybe I didn't share the same belief offered something different from others we spoke with." 
 
"Coach Johnson has also been mentored by two men I hold in high regard in Coach Jon Lantzy, and Coach Koudelka," said MacArthur. "The input of those men were invaluable through this process. I look forward to the future here as we continue to build our program here at Tech."
 
Coach Johnson was inducted into the University of Lynchburg Athletics Hall of Fame in 2003 after a highly productive playing career for the Hornets. He was a four-time All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference selection as well as a team captain in 2002 and 2003. In 2003, Johnson led the Hornets to the program's first-ever Old Dominion Athletic Conference championship and second-ever NCAA Division III tournament appearance. Furthermore, he was named an All-American.

Johnson graduated from Lynchburg in 2003 with his Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. He earned his MBA from Lynchburg in 2026.
 
The Panthers will be back on the field in the spring of 2027 with Coach Johnson on the sidelines.
