Ethical Conduct & Sportsmanship

RealResponse - Through surveys, real-time reporting, and a comprehensive documentation repository, RealResponse provides athletes a safe space to deliver concerns and feedback to the athletics administration.

INFLCR – Provides access to digital content, top-notch education, social media value metrics, and NIL monetization opportunities to scholar-athletes.

NIL – Policy - Consistent with the NCAA Interim NIL Policy, Florida Tech scholar-athletes may receive compensation from third parties (but NOT from the University) for the use of their Name, Image and Likeness in endorsements or NIL activities. This policy applies to scholar-athletes and University employees.

Agents and Your Amateurism - A scholar-athlete must be an amateur in their sport in order to compete in intercollegiate athletics.  One goal of the Florida Tech compliance office is to protect scholar-athletes' eligibility for as long as they wish to pursue collegiate athletics and then ensure that they can make informed decisions about those who will represent them when they are ready to pursue their professional careers.

Gender Equity & Title IX - One of the NCAA's principles of conduct for intercollegiate athletics focuses on gender equity.  The office of inclusion is committed to supporting the membership as it strives to comply with federal and state laws regarding gender equity, to adopt legislation that augments gender equity and to establish an environment that is free of gender bias. Title IX is a federal civil rights law passed as part of the Education Amendments of 1972. This law protects people (students, employees, and others) from discrimination based on sex in educational programs or activities that receive Federal financial assistance. Covered Persons at educational institutions are protected by Title IX — regardless of their sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, part- or full-time status, disability, race, or national origin — in all aspects of the institution's educational programs and activities.  The law requires educational institutions to maintain policies, practices, and programs that do not discriminate against anyone based on gender. Title IX requires that everyone receive fair and equitable treatment in all areas of education. Title IX covers men and women, boys and girls, staff, and students, in any educational institution receiving federal funding.

Progress Toward Degree Requirements and Seasons of EligibilityBecause we believe success in the classroom is just as important as winning on the field, we have standards to ensure scholar-athletes make progress toward a degree – every year and every season. They need to meet these standards to be eligible to play.

Financial Aid & Athletic Aid – An athletic aid agreement is for one year per NCAA Legislation. The scholarship document is the ONLY binding contract between the institution and the scholar-athlete. Follow the link for further detailed information.

Social Media – Florida Tech Athletics recognizes and supports its scholar-athletes' rights to freedom of speech, expression, and association, including the use of social networks. In this context, however, each scholar-athlete must remember that playing and competing for the university is a privilege, not a right. As a scholar-athlete, you represent the University and you are expected to portray yourself, your team, and the University in a positive manner at all times. Any online postings must therefore be consistent with Federal and State laws, team, Athletic Department, Florida Institute of Technology, and NCAA rules and policies. Learn more about social media guidelines here.

Banned Substances (PDF) - Follow the link to learn more about the banned substances.

Banned Substance Testing - As a Florida Tech scholar-athlete, you are subject to random drug testing.

Extra Benefits - The NCAA defines an extra benefit as any special arrangement by an institution employee or a representative of the institution's athletic interest ("Booster") to provide a scholar-athlete (or a scholar-athlete's relative or friend) a benefit that is not generally available to other Florida Tech students and their relatives and/or friends, or, to a particular segment of the student body (e.g., foreign students, minority students) determined on a basis unrelated to athletics ability. Follow the link for a detailed explanation of what qualifies as an extra benefit.

Countable Athletically Related Activities CARA is defined as any required activity with an athletics purpose involving scholar-athletes and at the direction of, or supervised by, one or more of Florida Tech's coaching staff (including strength coaches) Follow the link to learn what does and does not count as CARA and how the limitations change from season to season.

Sports Wagering - The NCAA opposes all legal and illegal sports wagering. Sports wagering has the potential to undermine the integrity of sports contests and jeopardizes the welfare of the scholar-athlete.
