Mobile, Ala. (Baseball) -Â Florida Tech made easy work of the Spring Hill College Badgers with a 13-1 victory on Friday night in Mobile, Alabama. Â
Starting pitcher
Ty Cohen gave an amazing performance when he pitched seven innings and faced 28 batters against the Badgers. Cohen struck out nine and held Spring Hill to just one run and three hits through his time on the mound. Freshman
Justin Barney relieved Cohen and pitched for two innings where he  struck out four and allowed only one hit.
Leading the Panthers offensively was
John Sternagel who went 3-for-5 at the plate and scored three runs and an RBI.
Ryan Sinzenich went 3-for-6 with two runs and 3 RBI's, one of which being his first homerun of the season. Dan Szpik and
Nick Capra also collected two RBI's a piece. Florida Tech collectively accumulated 13 runs off of 18 hits and five stolen bases throughout the night.Â
At the start of the game, Florida Tech struck immediately and brought in three runs; but Spring Hill answered when they scored one run at the bottom of the first. The Panthers kept the Badgers scoreless throughout the rest of the game. The Panthers returned in the top of the second and scored again off of a hard hit single to center field by
Reid Neal. Florida Tech came back again and scored another run in the top of the fourth when
Vincenzo Catanza singled to center field which brought
James Gronberg home. Sinzenich hit a homerun in the top of the seventh which also brought in
Grant McKown and the score to 7-1. Szpik brought in his two RBI's when he hit a nice triple to center field that sent home Neal and Sternagel. The Panthers continued their relentless efforts throughout the entire game which ended in their 13-1 victory.
