(Men's Lacrosse) - Florida Tech (3-4) pulled off the biggest victory in program history Saturday afternoon, as the Panthers upset No. 5 Seton Hill (2-2) by the score of 5-3 in a non-conference matchup in Charlotte, North Carolina. The victory is the Panthers' first over a Top 5 opponent in program history.
Nick Wynne led FIT with three goals.
Logan Sweeney finished with three points, on a goal and two assists, and
Brett Pohlmeyer tallied a goal in the Panthers' victory.
Florida Tech made the most of its man-up opportunities, going 3-of-3 for the game.
Lance Pavlina controlled the faceoff X, winning 6-of-10 draws.
Daniel Flock (3-4) had his best performance of the season in between the pipes for Florida Tech, making 19 total saves in the game to limit Seton Hill to its lowest scoring output of the season.
FIT scored two goals in the first quarter to take a 2-0 lead after one period of action. SHU cut the deficit to 2-1 with 14 minutes to play in the second quarter but the Panthers recorded another goal just before the half and took a 3-1 lead into the break.
The Panthers built their advantage to three goals, 4-1, early in the second half. However, the Griffins tallied consecutive goals to trim the lead to 4-3 at the 12:25 mark of the fourth quarter. Wynne then iced the game for Florida Tech, scoring on an open net to seal it with 30 seconds remaining.
