GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida Tech brought home more hardware and All-American honors on the final day of the 2018 NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving National Championships at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
Victor Rocha Furtado continued his impressive appearance at the championships on Saturday as the junior entered the finals of the men's 100 freestyle as the No. 2 seed following a time of 43.56 in the prelims.
The Sao Paolo, Brazil product sped through the pool in the final and earned his second national runner-up finish of the week and first team All-American honors in a new school record time at 43.18. Unfortunately, it was not fast enough to take down Marius Kusch of Queens who took the national championship and set a new NCAA DII record with a time of 42.42.
Concluding the championships, the Crimson and Gray's relay of
Emanuele Rossi,
Filip Dujmic,
Thomas Steenberg and Rocha Furtado placed fourth in the 400 freestyle relay finals, ending with a time of 2:56.72 to garner first team All-American laurels. Queens' relay won the national crown with a time of 2:53.67.
Florida Tech had a successful trip to the 2018 NCAA DII Championships. The Panthers racked up four Top-5 results, including two runner-up finishes, and six All-American awards, four of the first team variety.
