MELBOURNE, Fla. – On a gloomy day at Andy Seminick – Les Hall Field the Florida Tech baseball team met the No. 16 Bobcats of Georgia College for the final game of the weekend series. Florida Tech put in an amazing effort but it could not overcome the dominant pitching of the Bobcats dropping the third game of the series, 8-3.

Indiana native
Jake Lane opened the game for the Crimson and Gray. He lasted one and two-thirds innings during which he gave up four runs on five hits.

Drew Beyer was the first pitcher out the bullpen for the Panthers. Beyer pitched a majority of the game as he went five and a third innings. During his outing, he surrendered two runs on eight hits while registering one "K".

Ryan Allain,
Matt Coles and
Colin Cristello teamed up to close out the final two innings for Florida Tech. Allain pitched the entire eighth inning and held the Bobcats' scoreless during his time on the rubber.

The Bobcats opened the scoring as they took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. GC quickly extended the margin to four runs in the second inning.

Georgia College then struck again with a two-run top of the seventh to grab a 6-0 advantage.

Florida Tech broke GC's no-hitter and found their way onto the scoreboard in the bottom of the seventh.
Jacob Buser drove in the first run of the game for the Panthers as he hit a rocket down the right-field line that scored
Raul Quintero.
Kevin Capella got the team on the board for a second time as he hit a liner to right center that sent Buser trotting across home.

The score went to 6-3 after
Daniel Szpik found his way across the bag to end the big inning for the Panthers. However, defensive mistakes in the top of the ninth by the Panthers allowed Georgia College to push the score to 8-3 before closing out the final frame of the weekend.

FIT will look to get back on the right track on Friday, Apr. 6, as the Panthers travel to Boca Raton, Florida to take on Sunshine State Conference rival Lynn. The first game of the three-game series is set to begin at 3 p.m. on Friday. Fans can follow the action live at FloridaTechSports.com/live.
