MELBOURNE, Fla. – The Panthers were looking to turn around their recent misfortunes as they invited the Cavaliers of Walsh to Andy Seminick – Les Hall Field for a winners take all game. The Panthers would pull out the win after a huge bottom of the seventh that would see the team drive home eight runs.
However, the game would start out slowly for both offenses as both starting pitchers,
Justin Barney and Aidan Mlachak would only give up one run apiece through the first four innings. Walsh would then take a two-run lead and hold that for two and a half inning before FIT's bats came average in the bottom half of the seventh.
Senior catcher
Ryan Sinzenich with one swing of the bat would change the scoreline from 3-1 in favor of Walsh to 5-3 when he sent a grand slam shot over the highest part of the fence located in center field.
Kevin Capella would single up the middle in which allowed both Quintero and Buser to cross home plate.
Rodnie Bernard would join in on the R.B.I. fun when he singled to left which allowed Capella to tout across home plate with no issues from the opposing team.
James Gronberg would be the next Panther to drive in a run as he too would hit a single to left field, scoring
Jakob Newton, before advancing to second on the throw.
The Crimson and Gray would give up another run in the top half of the eighth but would answer in the bottom half of the inning when
Zac Orchard would blast a moon shot over the wall in right-center scoring Sinzenich and himself which extended the lead to 11-4. Jordan Murphy would then ice the Cavaliers in the ninth to earn himself his first win of the season in a three-inning relief effort.
The team will not have much time to celebrate their victory as they will turn their focus to tomorrow's game against the Fighting Scots of Ohio Valley University. This matchup will take place at Osceola County Stadium in Kissimmee, Florida with first pitch scheduled for 2 p.m.
