Clearwater, Fla. - On February 24, the Panthers concluded the 2019 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships.
The women concluded the SSC Championships earning 280 points. The SSC swimming title was earn by Tampa earning 976 points in four days of competition. In second was Nova earning 939 points and in third was Florida Southern earning 391 points.
The men finished the SSC Championships with 319 points. The men champion was Nova who registered 852.5 points in the competition and its third consecutive Conference Championship. Coming in second was Tampa who earned 819 points and third place was Florida Southern who had 761 points.
Savannah Brennan, in the 200 breaststroke, finished 9th with a time of 2:21.45.
In the 400 free relay, the Panthers were able to take 5th with a time of 3:30.68. The relay was swam by Carter Juskevich, Samantha Bischoff, Brennan and Valentina Carvajal.
In the prelims,
Filip Dujmic, in the 100 free, had a 6th place finish with a time of 45.08. Dujmic in the finals finished 5th with a time of 45.02.
In the 200 back,
Emanuele Rossi finished 6th with a time of 1:48.66. Later in the final, Rossi improved his time to 1:47.64 earning 5th place.
In the 200 breaststroke,
Jose Coiman-Acosta ended with a qualifying time (2:05.20). In the finals, Acosta placed 6th with a time of 2:04.66.
In the 400 free relay, Florida Tech took 5th with a total time of 3:00.33. The relay was swam by Rossi,
Harry Sale,
Farran Barker and Dujmic.
The Panthers will be waiting to hear if any swimmers qualify for the NCAA Championships starting March 14 at Indianapolis.
