MELBOURNE – Florida Tech women's soccer kept it going as the team picked up points for their fifth straight match as they beat the Florida Southern Mocs, 1-0. This win was extra special for the team's seniors as they were honored for their commitment to the program over their tenure at Florida Tech.
The team put together a strong performance as they lead the attack for most of the match, which lent itself to the Panthers' 8-4 shot advantage.
Miranda Choplin and
Maria Sanchez Recuero combined for another shutout as Choplin handled the keeping duties in the first 45 minutes and Recuero closed out the contest.
Â
The Crimson & Gray took no time applying the pressure as the women marched down the pitch and took a chance that set up the game's only goal of the night. The goal occurred when a Mocs defender looking to clear a cross accidentally sent the ball flying into the back of her own net and made it 1-0 in under a minute of play.
Â
Tech kept the pressure up after getting on the board, but they did not manage another goal despite a few good chances, and the first half ended, 1-0. Â
Â
The second half was a more even affair as both teams had a few scoring opportunities. However, each team's keeper was on top of their game and turned away any potential goals. So after 90 minutes, the score held at 1-0 and Tech grabbed its third straight home victory.

Florida Tech looks to complete its unbeaten Spring in their final match of the semester Friday, April 16, when they head down to Miami Shores, Florida, for a 5 p.m. ET kickoff against the Barry Buccaneers.
