Eagles take SSC Championship over Florida Tech

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - For the second year in a row, Florida Tech traveled to No. 11 Embry-Riddle for the SSC Championship match. The Panthers had the same fate as they did in 2021, falling to the Eagles 1-0.

STATS OF THE MATCH: 

  • In the 14' Kate Frazier was unlucky not to score after she smashed a shot off the left crossbar from outside the box. 
  • 25 minutes into the game, Moa Karlsson for the Eagles found the end of a loose ball in the box but Maria Sanchez Recuero was ready at her near post to make the save.  
  • At halftime, the Panthers had five shots on goal while the Eagles had just one. 
  • The match was decided on a corner kick that found the head of Hattie Kettle in the 59' to give Embry-Riddle the lead.  
  • Jessica Cravero in the 67' hit a great shot with her left foot across goal, but Eagles goalkeeper Oona Jokinen was there to make a great save. 
  • Cravero had another chance in the 83' to tie the match, but her shot rattled off the crossbar and out of harm's way.  
  • Florida Tech outshot Embry-Riddle 17-14. 
  • On corner kicks, the Panthers had eight while the Eagles had six.  

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
  • Florida Tech drops to 3-8-2 all-time vs Embry-Riddle. 
  • The Panthers are now 1-3 in SSC Tournament Championship matches.   
  • Embry-Riddle has won six in a row against Florida Tech. 
  • Cravero led the team with six shots on the day. 
  • After the game, Maria Sanchez Recuero, Marem Ndiongue, Cristina Garriga, and May Queiroz were named to the All-SSC Tournament Team.
