Panthers Extend Winning Streak to Seven on Dohanos’ Walk-off

Florida Tech defeats Flagler 3-2 on two RBI walk-off double by Dylan Dohanos in the 9th inning

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STATS OF GAME:
  • Flagler took a first inning 1-0 lead on an infield single by Ashton Thomas.
  • The Saints doubled their lead in the fourth inning on a single to left by Trey Newland, however Jakob Newton threw out Matt Burke at the plate to keep the margin at two.
  • The Panthers broke through in the seventh inning thanks to Sam Schner's infield single that plated Dylan Owens.
  • In the ninth inning, Tech's winning rally started with a one out double down the left field line by Hayden Kimball. Sam Schner then reached following a walk.
  • Two batters later, Dylan Dohanos doubled to left-center just beyond the diving reach of Newland, allowing Schner and Kimball to sprint home to win the game.
  • Samuel Orozco in his first start pitched three innings, allowed one run on four hits. Orozco struck out four and walked none on 66 pitches.
  • Joey Hecht allowed one run on two hits in four innings of work in relief of Orozco.
  • Freshman Noah Steckley threw two perfect innings to earn the win.
     
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • The Panthers now lead the all-time series with Flagler, 52-29.
  • The Panthers' last walk-off victory also came against Flagler on March 26, 2019 when Rodnie Bernard's double gave the Panthers a 4-3 win.

UP NEXT:  The Panthers return to action on Friday night at 6:00 P.M. for their Sunshine State Conference opener against Barry at Seminick-Hall Field.
