OAK RIDGE, Tenn. –  Men's crew had a strong day on the water during the opening day of the SIRA Championship Regatta at Melton Hill Lake.
 
The Varsity 8+ crossed the finish line with the sixth fastest time in the time trials (5:28.901) to advance to the afternoon's semifinals.
 
In the semifinals, Tech cruised to a second-place finish in their heat, just behind Colgate, with a time of 6:19.931  to move on to Sunday's final.
