MERCER, N.J. – Florida Tech men's rowing team concluded their 2023 campaign at the 120
th IRA Regatta on Saturday.
The Varsity 4+ rowed to a fourth-place finish in the grand finals with a time of 07:09.011.
California took a quick lead, with no crew being able to catch up. The other five shells stayed closed, trading positions, for most of the race.
In the first 500 meters, Tech found themselves in the fifth-place spot but continued to gain momentum throughout the next 1000 meters. At the final 500-meter mark, the Panthers challenged the Naval Academy and pulled ahead for the third-place position.
In the final 150 meters, Dartmouth made a push and overtook the Panthers to claim the bronze medal. Temple finished second (07:06.789), and California took first (07:04.781).
