Women’s Rowing Opens Spring Season with Victories over Barry University

FELLESMERE, Fla. –  Florida Tech women's rowing opened up the spring campaign with commanding victories at Canal 54 in a dual meet against Division II Barry University.

The Varsity 8+ set the tone early on and held strong through the course to defeat Barry by 13.4 seconds. The crew, led by coxswain, McKenna Barr, crossed the finish line in 7:05.88.

The Panther's Varsity 4+ competed against two Barry crews coming in first 17.56 seconds ahead of Barry with a time of 7:36.88. The D2 Varsity 4 beat Barry by 37 seconds with a time of 8:43.39.

The young Panther program had two boats entered in the Novice Varsity 4 both finishing ahead of Barry's Novice 4 with times of 8:10.41 and 9:01.24 over Barry's time of 9:34.23.

The results provided great motivation for the Panthers who are rebuilding their program with 10 novice freshmen on their 15 person roster this year.  This dual meet was on the heels of a grueling week of training during Spring Break.  Their dedication, hard work and sweat equity really showed on this first competition of the season.
