MELBOURNE, FLA. – Panther Baseball was back in action this afternoon for their first double header of SSC play this season. Behind strong pitching and situational hitting, Tech completed the sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic to start 3-0 in conference play.

GAME NOTES:
- AJ Wydra got the ball for game two of the series and dominated from the start. He opened the game by sitting down he first 10 batters he faced in order and racked up four strikeouts in the process.
- While the Tech offense was held scoreless in the first three innings, they had base runners every inning.
- After another scoreless frame from Wydra in the fourth, the Panthers pushed a run across after Tyler McClanahan singled to score Marcello Cortale.
- The Panthers added two more runs in the bottom of the fifth when Cortale launched his fourth home run of the weekend, a no-doubter over the left field wall.
- Wydra continued to roll, keeping the Sailfish off the scoreboard in the sixth and seventh innings to finish his day with zero runs allowed and eight strikeouts.
- In the bottom of the seventh and eighth innings, Tech exploded for five runs to take full control of the game.
- Despite PBA picking up a run in the ninth, Blake Holshouser shut the door as the Panthers took a 2-0 lead in the series.

GAME NOTES:
- Palm Beach took their first lead of any game in the series when they scored in the top of the first, but Hunter Stolov worked through traffic to limit the damage to one run.
- The Sailfish lead did not last long as Marcello Cortale roped a double down the third base line to score Adrian Dominguez and tie the game at 1-1.
- Stolov settled into outing, producing ground balls that were easily handled by the Tech defense.
- The scoreline remained 1-1 through the next four innings as Stolov continued to keep PBA at bay.
- After a scoreless top of the fifth from Stolov, the Panthers put up a crooked number in the bottom half with big hits from Dominguez and Gabe Roque.
- With Tech leading 4-1, PBA loaded the bases at the top of the sixth but were held to one run after a diving stop from Roque at first base turned into a 3-6-1 double play to end the inning.
- With the momentum fully back on the Panthers side, they blew the game open with a four-run sixth inning. Conner Wiggins, Anthony Fimiano, and William Rollings all singled, and Jeff Davis and Gabe Roque both reached on free passes as Tech took an 8-2 lead.
- Reilly Kuhar, Brady Guthrie and Bryson Walker tossed three straight scoreless innings to end the game and complete the sweep of PBA.

UP NEXT: The Panthers will head out on the road for their first SSC series away from home. Tech will travel to Lakeland to face Florida Southern. Game one of this three-game set is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Friday, February 27
