Rowing Earns Three First Place Finishes At FIRA Championships

SARASOTA, FLA. – Florida Tech rowing was back in the water today as they wrapped up the FIRA Championship held at Nathan Benderson Park. The Panthers raced in eight total events against Rollins, Barry, Nova Southeastern, Embry-Riddle, Florida, Central Florida, Florida State and Jacksonville.

The Panthers began the day on a high note with a first-place finish in the V8, finishing with a time of 06:17:82. They followed that up with a third-place finish in the JV V8 with a 06:47:31 time.

In the afternoon slate, Tech earned a fourth-place finish with a time of 07:30.25 in the men's double before capturing another first-place time of 07:01:82 in the men's lightweight 4X. The Panthers stayed hot with a second-place finish and their third first-place finish in the men's 2X (08:04.06) and the Novice 4 (07:02.72).

In the final two races of the day, Tech earned back-to-back second-place finishes in the Varsity 4. In the 3:55 PM event, the Panthers had a time of 07:35.10 and in the 4:15 PM event, Tech rowed a strong 07:15.82.

In the end, Tech finished in the top three in seven of the eight events they competed in and earned three first-place finishes.
 
UP NEXT: Tech will be back in action on April 4th when they hit the water against Stetson University.
