GAME NOTES:
  • The series finale between the Cougars and Panthers did not start in Tech's favor. Sioux Falls opened the game with a two-run home run in the top of the first for their first lead of the series.
  • Tech was unable to answer, but starting pitcher Jake Hershey pitched well to keep the deficit at two.
  • In the top of the third, the Cougars struck again. They pushed across two more runs to take a 4-0 lead.
  • The Panthers got their first hit of the game in the bottom of the third when Marshall Burke doubled down the line, but he was left stranded at third.
  • Despite getting another hit in the fourth from Tyler McClanahan, Tech was held scoreless through the first four innings.
  • Sioux Falls produced another two spot in the top of the fifth to go up 6-0.
  • The Panthers responded right away in the bottom half of the inning. Marshall Burke earned a one-out single and the next batter Adrian Dominguez, mashed a line drive home run over the left field wall to get Tech on the board.
  • After a shutout inning in relief from Jaxon ClampittMarcello Cortale hit a monster no-doubt solo home run. Cutting the tech deficit to 6-3 heading into the final innings.
  • Unfortunately for the Panthers, the comeback effort was cut short by a bases-loaded rally from the Cougars. USF used a plethora of hits to extend the lead to 10-3.
  • Tech earned a pair of hits in the final two innings but was unable to mount another comeback.
