MELBOURNE, FLA – Florida Tech Athletics and Director of Sports Performance Alexis Kapsambelis have announced the hiring of
Mitchell Pomeroy as the new Assistant Director of Sports Performance.
"I am super excited to welcome Mitchell to our sports performance team." Said Kapsambelis, "His knowledge, experience, and passion for developing scholar athletes into champions and leaders make him an exceptional addition. I can't wait to see the impact he has on our scholar-athletes."
Mitchell Pomeroy comes to Florida Tech from the University of Minnesota-Crookston, where he served as the head strength and conditioning coach for all 12 NCAA programs.
Pomeroy on joining the Panther strength and conditioning team, "I'm grateful for this opportunity at Florida Tech to better the student-athletes in the weight room. I look forward to all the relationships I will get to build and the chance to positively impact the scholar-athletes college experience!"
Prior to Minnesota-Crookston, Pomeroy worked as a graduate assistant of strength and conditioning at Southwest Minnesota State and interned in the sports performance departments at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and the University of Dubuque. In those roles, Pomeroy programmed and ran lifts for Baseball, Swim and Dive, Cross Country, Football, and Men's Basketball. He also ran warmups for athletic programs and assisted in the programming for the UW-Platteville Men's Basketball 2023-24 team, which reached the NCAA DIII Elite Eight.
Pomeroy was a five-year NCAA varsity baseball player, earning All-Conference honors in 2022 and 2024. Pomeroy was also awarded the Wendt Character Athlete of the Year Award (2022), Male Scholar Athlete of the Year Award (2022), and Exercise Science Award of Excellence (2022) at Dubuque.
A native of Winterset, Iowa, he graduated from the University of Dubuque, Summa Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Science in Wellness and Exercise Science in May 2022, before completing a Master's of Science in Sport Administration from the University of Wisconsin–Platteville in 2024.
Pomeroy moved to Florida with his wife, Mikia, and officially started in the Florida Tech Sports Performance department on July 6
th.
