Nir Barnea Named CollegeSwimming.com Preseason All-American

Defending SSC Gold Medalist earns honor in 50-yard Freestyle

Florida Tech's Nir Barnea is the Panthers' first preseason all-American in the swimming program's history.
MELBOURNE, Fla. (Men's Swimming) – Florida Tech senior Nir Barnea has been named a Preseason All-American by CollegeSwimming.com, becoming the first Panther in program-history to earn the prestigious honor.
 
Barnea is named preseason all-american in the 50-yard freestyle, an event in which the Israeli native earned the FIT men's first Sunshine State Conference Gold Medal in 2016 with a time of 19.98. Shortly after at the NCAA Championships, he smashed that time with a school-record 19.84 as leadoff in the 200-yard freestyle relay.
 
The senior wrapped up the NCAA Championships with a pair of All-American nods after helping the 200 free and 400 free relay teams to respective sixth and eighth-place finishes.
