Panthers Qualify for NCAA Swimming Championships

Men's Swimming Rank 20th in CSCAA Poll

Melbourne, Fla. - The Florida Tech swimming team qualified four swimmers for the NCAA Swimming Championships. 

Victor Rocha Furtado qualified for the 50 free, 100 free and the 100 fly. Rocha Furtado has the best time in the 50 free qualifying members (19.75). In the 100 free, he recorded a "A" qualifying time of 43.23. In the 100 fly, the Brazilian native recorded a time of 47.25 having the fifth best time of the qualifiers. 

The next Panther to qualify was Emanuele Rossi. Rossi qualified in the 100 back and will be participating in the 50 free and 200 back. In the 100 back, his best time of the season was 48.54. In the 50 free and in the 200 back, Rossi recorded a time of 20.41 and 1:47.64. 

Up next, Dain Rust who qualified for the 100 breaststroke in which he recorded his best time of 54.58. That time was recorded in the Sunshine State Conference and is now a new school record for the Panthers. 

The last Panther qualifier was Savannah Brennan. Brennan qualified in the 400 IM and will be participating in the 500 free and 200 breaststroke. The Florida native, had a qualifying time of 4:22.18. That time was recorded in the SSC Championship and is now a new school record for Florida Tech. In the 500 free and 200 breaststroke, Brennan recorded a time of 4:57.85 and 2:19.51. 

The Panthers will be swimming four relays on the men's side, the 200 free, 400 free, 200 medley and 400 medley. Swimmers Harry Sale and Filip Dujmic will be adding extra force in the relay events for the Panthers.  

On March 6, the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) have released their fourth TYR Top 25 Dual Meet Swimming and Diving Poll of the 2018-19 season. The Florida Tech man ranked 20th in the last poll of the 2018-2019 season. They received 33 points in the rankings. Queens remains in first follow by Delta State and Indianapolis. 

The NCAA Swimming Championships begin Wednesday, March 13 and end Saturday, March 16. Live coverage links will be provided at FloridaTechSports.com.
