Box Score Melbourne, Fla. - Panthers hosted the Tars on Tuesday night for the first home game of the season. Tech battled in four sets of play, but was unable to earn the victory against the Sunshine State Conference opponent.
Following the match,
Kyra Atkinson was recognized for achieving her 1000th dig of her career. Coach
Amy O'Brien congratulated her with a signed volleyball that said "1000 DIGS".
Florida Tech collected 57 kills, 52 assists, six serve aces, eight blocks, and 82 digs during four sets of play.
SET 1
Tech fought hard recording 15 kills on 43 attempts for a .233 attacking percentage as a team. The Panthers also tallied 13 assists, 18 digs, and two blocks.
Unfortunately, Florida Tech finished 25-22 in favor of the Tars.
SET 2
Audrey Keenan collected six kills on 17 attempts for an attacking rate of .294.
The Panthers were unable to take the set as they fell 25-21 to the Tars.
SET 3
The Crimson and Gray out scored the Tars 25-21 on a well played set. The Panthers registered 12 kills on 29 attempts for a .310 hitting percentage as a team.
Kennan and
Jocelyn Garcia each collected three kills apiece and
Christina Mayberry tallied four kills for the Panthers.
Tech also recorded 11 assists, all by
Sheila Villagrasa, and 15 digs.
SET 4
The Crimson and Gray played an exciting fourth set as they collected 15 kills, 15 assists, and 24 digs. However, the Tars came out on top as they defeated the Panthers 27-25.
Keenan, Mayberry, and
Tania Kottke collected three kills each during the match. Garcia was the most effective striker as she recorded four kills on six attempts for a .500 attacking rate.
