MELBOURNE, FLA. – Florida Tech Volleyball held the program's Alumni game this past weekend, where the players from the past got a chance to compete again in the Clemente Center. The weekend coincided with Volleyball's committed weekend, welcoming players joining the program this fall for the 2026 season. Adding to the celebration of the weekend, Tech also honored Maria Jesus Munoz with a Senior Day presentation on Saturday.
In a fun-filled but competitive Alumni Game, the current Panther volleyball squad took on the program's alumni. The alumni team featured players ranging from graduates of this past season to players from over a decade ago. The team showcased the depth and pride Panther alumni have for their program. The game itself was played in front of a crowd of over 140 people, who saw the alumni take the first set against the current Panther roster. While the 2026 Panthers came back to win 2-1, everyone left the court grateful to have had the opportunity to play together.
Head Coach
Jordan Willis on what this weekend means to the program, "What a huge event for us. There was such great energy in the gym. My heart was full of joy to have players come back from the past 3 seasons to play, but also the alumni from before want to be here for this event is so cool. And then to have over 140 fans come and watch our alumni game means we are only growing and building in the right direction. Can't wait to see what our future events look like."
Before the alumni game, the team and alumni held a Senior Day ceremony for Maria Jesus Munoz, a three-year member of the program whose career was cut short by injury. In her time as a Panther, she has appeared in 32 matches, playing 114 sets and was a member of the 2024 NCAA Tournament team. In her 32 matches as a Panther, she recorded 256 kills, 200 digs and 42 total blocks. She recorded a career high, 15 kills In 2023 against Barry and a career high 5 blocks in that same season against Saint Leo. Even when she was unable to compete on the court, Jesu remained a positive presence on the bench, cheering on her teammates and providing relentless support.
When asked about Jesu's impact on Florida Tech Volleyball, Head Coach
Jordan Willis said, "Her infectious personality and high energy is her trademark. Her presence on and off the court brought such joy and positivity. Her love for volleyball and this team will be greatly missed. And now as an alumni, she will always and forever be a part of this program and never forgotten."
Florida Tech Volleyball is the epitome of a family that stretches decades. While not all alumni were able to be present this past weekend, their support is felt nationwide. The Panther volleyball program holds their alumni weekend once year, but alumni constantly show up during the season.
