Swope Earns Academic All-District® Honors

AUSTIN, Texas – Emily Swope of the women's soccer team has been named to the 2021 First Team Academic All-District® Women's Soccer Team.
 
The teams are selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), and recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
 
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
 
Swope is a six-year member of the women's soccer team. The Fort Myers, Florida product has already graduated from Florida Tech with a bachelor's degree in psychology while boasting a 3.71 GPA. She is currently working towards her master's degree in applied behavioral analysis and currently holds a 4.00 GPA. 
 
Following the completion of her master's degree, Swope intends to sit for the certification exam and become a board-certified behavior analyst.
 
She has been named to the Sunshine State Conference Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll and Florida Tech Athletic Director's Honor Roll every year of her career and has twice done so with a 4.00 GPA. Additionally, Swope was named to the Dean's List all six years of her collegiate career. 
 
Swope has started all 17 games this season and scored her first career goal in this year's season opener on Sept. 3 at Auburn-Montgomery. More importantly, she has helped anchor a Florida Tech defense that is one of the best in the nation in 2021. The Panthers have allowed just eight goals over 17 games, which ranks first in the SSC. Tech has only given up six goals against SSC opponents this season. Additionally, the Panthers have racked up 10 shutouts and lead the league in scoring defense at .470 goals allowed per game.
 
Swope and the Panthers are set to compete for a SSC Tournament Championship on Sunday against Embry-Riddle. Kickoff for the game is set for 1 p.m. at ERAU Soccer Stadium.
