HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – Florida Tech men's cross country team took ninth out of 20 teams at the NCAA South Region Championships in Huntsville, Alabama on Saturday morning. It is a seven-spot improvement from last season.
The Panthers competed on the same course at John Hunt Park when they traveled to the UAH Chargers Invite in October. However, the Panthers ran a 10K course for the regional championships.
It was the first top-10 and highest finish for the program since 2017.
Niels Buitenhuis led the way for the Crimson and Gray. The graduate student placed 46th with a time of 33:02.85.
The following two Panthers crossed the finish line in 63rd and 64th place.
Jake Greene was the second Tech runner on the board, clocking in a time of 34:04.95.
Ben Peck sprinted to 34:09.36, just behind his teammate.
Following closely behind Peck,
Tyler Herrera finished in 67th with a time of 34:16.44.
Lachlan McCure ran a 34:28.21 for 72nd place,
Dominic Longobardi ran a 35:23.29 for 92nd place, and
Jack Schule rounded out the Panthers with a 35:45.21 for 99th place.
