OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Tech men's swimming program kicked off the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championships at the Florida Aquatic Swimming Training (F.A.S.T) in Ocala, Florida on Wednesday night with a great performance in the 800 Freestyle Relay. As each team swam an A and a B relay, the combination of the Panthers two relay squads was good enough to put the Panthers in third place with 44 points.
Representing the Panthers 800 Free A Relay team was
Akos Hajagos,
Jay Jay Fonnotto,
Josh McLean and
Luke Altmann who recorded a time of 6:39.90 to finish fourth in the event. Tech's time of 6:39.90 was just .05 seconds ahead of Florida Southern's A team.
Representing Tech's 800 Free B Relay team was
David Armstrong,
Brayden Hohman,
Gavin Lanka and
George Jekov, whose time of 6:56.67 helped the Panthers jump ahead to finish day one of the SSC Championships in third place.
Nova Southeastern's A Relay team finished first in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 6:25.49 as Tampa managed to finish second In the event with a time of 6:29.46 who were trailed by Lynn in third with 6:36.40.
Up Next: Day Two of the SSC Swimming Championships will begin at 10 A.M. starting off with prelims, followed by the finals beginning at 6 P.M.
