OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Tech men's swimming program competed in day two of the 2024 Sunshine State Conference Swimming Championship on Thursday as the team finished the night in the standings at sixth place with 102 points.

At the end of the evening, Tampa would lead the men's standings with 235 points while Nova Southeastern would take second with 215 points followed by Florida Southern in third with 173 points.

Before the finals, freshman
Akos Hajagos managed to break the program record in the men's 200 IM after finishing fourth in the prelims with a time of 1:49.82. Hajagos time broke the record by just .02 seconds. Later in the evening, Hajagos would go on to break his own record set earlier in the day, swimming in the A Final that night, a time of 1:49.56 which earned him a sixth-place finish in his first individual event at the SSC Championship.

Looking at the 1000 Free,
Zachary Kopel was the Panthers top finisher, swimming the event in a time of 9:34.12, earning himself a 12
th place finish at SSC's. Behind Kopel for Florida Tech was
Brayden Hohman finishing 17
th with a time of 9:39.69 followed by
David Armstrong to finish out Tech's top three finishers in the event as Armstrong placed 24
th at 9:59.48.

Luke Altmann represented the Crimson and Gray in the 50 Free B Final, placing sixth with a time of 20.82

Day two ended with the 200 Medley Relay as Tech's team of
Daniel Aizenberg,
Connor Orth,
Jay Jay Fonnotto and
Matteo Caruso placed sixth in the A final with a time of 1:30.03. Tech's team of Zach Reese,
Matthew Heaphy,
Nathan Scott and
Max Martino finished second in the B Final after completing the race in a time of 1:30.35.
