OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Tech men's swimming program added two more medal finishes at day four of the 2024 SSC Swim Championship by making podium in one individual and one relay event. The Crimson and Gray finished day in sixth place with 269 points.
Freshman
Akos Hajagos closed out the individual events of Day Four, winning his second silver medal of the 2024 SSC Championship. Placing second in the A final of the 200 Fly with a time of 1:46.68, Akos not only made podium, but also broke his own 200 Fly Program Record while doing so.
In the B Finals of the 200 Fly,
Jay Jay Fonnotto placed first in the B final with 1:49.07 and was trailed by
Nathan Scott at 1:50.14.
In the men's 200 Free Relay, Tech earned its second medal of the night, as the team of
Luke Altmann,
Max Martino,
Matteo Caruso and Hajagos earned bronze with a time of 1:22.13. in the B finals, the Panthers team of
Jay Jay Fonnotto,
Josh McLean Nathan Scott and
Daniel Aizenberg placed fourth at 1:24.30.
Brayden Hohman swam in the 500 Free B Finals, finishing in fifth place at 4:36.98.
Matthew Heaphy and
Connor Orth both represented the Crimson and Gray in the evenings 100 Breast B Finals. Heaphy completed the race in a time of 56.34, placing third in the B final while Orth was right behind him in fourth place with a time of 56.35.
Following day four, Tampa remained at the top of the standings with 641 points. Nova Southeastern remained in second with 464 points while Florida Southern sat in third place right behind Nova Southeastern heading into day five with 430 points.
Up Next: The Final Day of the SSC Swimming Championship will continue Sunday, February 18th at 10 A.M. starting off with prelims, followed by the finals later that night at 5 P.M.
