GENEVA, Ohio – For the tenth consecutive season, the Florida Tech swimming program was represented at the NCAA Division II National Championships as they began their 2024 appearance on Wednesday, March 13
th at the second day of nationals at the SPIRE Institute – Aquatics Center with
Akos Hajagos and
Katherine Helminiak competing in their first events of the week.

Freshman Hajagos from Budapest, Hungary competed in his first-ever NCAA Championship Wednesday morning in the men's 200 IM. In the race, Hajagos shattered his program record of 1:49.56 by swimming the race in 1:47.70. Overall, he finished just outside of the B Final's cut for a 17
th overall finish in the 200 IM.

Junior Helminiak returned to the NCAA Championships for the second year in a row and started her trip to Geneva, Ohio by competing in the 1000 Free. Â With a time of 10:18.94, Helminiak finished in 31st overall out of 39 total swimmers to start her 2024 National Championship swims.
