INDIANAPOLIS, IN – Efe Ongoren was back in the pool on Friday, representing the Florida Tech swimming program at Day Four of the 2025 NCAA Division II National Championships at the IU Natatorium.
The freshman competed in the 500 Free with Ongoren's prelim time of 4:25.35, which was good for 12th place, earning him a spot in the B Final. Early on Friday evening, he would go on to not only win the B Final and earn Honorable Mention All-American honors in the process, but Efe also set a new school record in the event of 4:23.00. This beat the previous school record of 4:24.16 that he set in November at the Queens Fall Frenzy and is also the third time this season he established a school record time in the 500 Free.
Ongoren becomes the seventh swimmer in men's program history to earn All-American honors. He is the first Panther men's swimmer to compete in the 500 Free at the National Championships since Emanuele Rossi in 2017.
Up Next: Ongoren's superlative debut season concludes on Saturday with the 1650 Free Final at 12:30 P.M.
