MELBOURNE, Fla. – For the second consecutive season, the Florida Tech softball team lands three members on the College Sports Communications (CSC) Academic All-District team when the organization announced its selections on Tuesday afternoon.
Celeste Casillas, Hailey Mix, and Ella Niles, represent the Panthers on the CSC Academic All-District Team. Casillas and Niles receive the recognition in back-to-back seasons, with both starting over 50 games in 2025, while Mix is on the team for the first time in her career after 37 starts.
The 2025 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Teams, a prestigious selection by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top scholar-athletes for their exceptional performances on the field and in the classroom.
Academic All-District® honorees are considered for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. The first-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December.
Casillas graduated with a bachelor's degree in sports management and is working on her master's in computer information systems while holding a 3.83 cumulative grade point average. On the softball field, Casillas hit 0.297, a team-high 10 doubles, two triples, a career-high six home runs, and 40 RBI. She was tied fourth in home runs and tied 10
th in RBIs among the Sunshine State Conference. The Hayward, California native started all 51 games at shortstop for the Panthers.
Mix, a senior, graduated with a degree in Biomedical Science while maintaining a perfect 4.0 cumulative grade point average. She made 40 appearances and started 37 games at first base. Mix hit her first career home run and drove nine RBIs during the season. The Viera native led the team with 254 fielding chances and 248 putouts, and two assists for a 0.984 fielding percentage.
Junior Niles studies Business Administration and holds a 3.79 cumulative grade point average through six semesters. Niles had a career year, hitting 0.302, a career-high 10 RBI, and placed her first-ever extra base hit with a triple. On the base paths, the Hesperia, California native was a massive threat, swiping 36 bags on 39 attempts, the fourth most in a season by a Panther in the program's history. She also moved into fourth all-time for career stolen bases with 77. Starting 50 games in centerfield, Niles hauled in 117 putouts and registered a 0.976 fielding percentage.
