MELBOURNE, Fla. – Freshman goalkeeper
Elias Ronning Orn from Florida Tech men's soccer has been named the Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Defensive Player of the Week for his effort in the Panthers' wins over Rollins and Embry-Riddle.
This is Orn's first SSC Player of the Week honor of his young career and the first for the Panthers as a whole.
Orn totaled five saves and captained Tech's defense to back-to-back clean sheets, opening conference play. The Randaberg, Norway native made four of his saves in a 2-0 victory against Rollins on Wednesday night. The freshman then made one save in a dominant 4-0 triumph over Embry-Riddle, securing the Panthers' first Kármán Clash win.
The wins over Rollins and ERAU extended the Panthers' win streaks against each opponent, as they had not lost to the Tars since 2022 and the Eagles since 2015. It's also the first time Tech has shut out its opponent in consecutive games since the 2023 season.
Tech continues conference play on the road on Wednesday, Oct. 1, against Saint Leo. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. in St. Leo, Fla.
