LAKELAND, Fla. - The Florida Tech men's cross-country team finished in fourth place of 11 teams at the Swan City Classic 6K on Saturday morning. Freshman
Noah Heal and Sophomore
Ben Peck landed in the Top-10.
Florida Tech took fourth place behind three Sunshine State Conference opponents in Embry-Riddle, Florida Southern, and Tampa.
In his collegiate debut, Heal led all Panthers with a time of 18:58.40 and placed fourth out of 138 participants. Following closely behind was 2024 SSC Freshman of the Year, Peck, who finished in eighth, crossing the finish line at 19:02.70. It marks back-to-back seasons that the Panthers have had two runners in the Top-10 in the season's opening meet.
Thomas Carpenter grabbed 32
nd place with a time of 19:40.90 in his first cross-country meet. Capenter joined the Tech after the 2024 season. Rounding out the Panthers' top-5 was
Tyler Herrera and freshman
Rhett Turner, clocking in at 20:03.90 and 20:41.50, respectively.
The last two Tech runners to score points for the team were
Jake Greene and
Jack Schule, who finished in 61
st and 67
th place, respectively. The Crimson and Gray saw nine break the top-100, including track star
Jason Hargesheimer.
