Jacob Pino Named South Region Pitcher Of The Week By NCBWA

LAKELAND, Fla.Jacob Pino has been named the South Region Pitcher of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association. This is Pino's second career NCBWA Pitcher of the Week award (2025). The Senior from Apopka, Florida, took the ball for Friday's Opening Day against Spring Hill and tossed a seven-inning gem.

Pino gave up a mere three hits and walked zero batters in the win over Spring Hill. His final line of 7.0 IP, 7 Ks, 3 H, 0 BB, 0 ER was the best in the conference as he led the SSC in innings pitched and ERA. His biggest inning came in the bottom of the sixth. After giving up a leadoff triple, he struck out the side to keep the shutout intact. He also held Spring Hill to a .120 batting average.

Pino beat out the top pitchers from the Gulf South Conference and Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to win the award. Jacob is now eligible for the National Pitcher of the Week honor, voted on by the NCBWA national committee.

In large part due to Pino's stellar outing, the Panthers went on to win 8-2 on Opening Day. Florida Tech took that Friday momentum and rolled through the rest of the weekend, sweeping Spring Hill to start the 2026 season 3-0. Pino and Panthers will be back in action tonight as they travel to Valdosta State for a three-game series.
