ORLANDO, Fla. – After a two-week break, Florida Tech turned in a strong showing against primarily Division I competition, recording three top-10 finishes and three more top-15 marks across the meet.
Filippo Bessi and
Diego Estebanes opened the day in the 400-meter hurdles, with Bessi placing 11th in 54.52 and Estebanes finishing 16th in 55.50, both competing against a field dominated by Division I runners.
Ese Oguma followed with a personal-best time of 21.85 in the 200 meters, finishing 26th.
In the 1500 meters,
Ben Peck shaved nearly four seconds off his personal best to place seventh with a time of 3:53.29. The Panthers also saw strong performances in the 5000 meters, where
Thomas Carpenter finished seventh in 15:30.43 and
Tyler Herrera placed 13th in 15:46.02.
Ethan Mudur posted a 21-second personal-best improvement with a time of 16:08.38, while
Rhett Turner followed closely behind in 16:21.62 in his debut at the distance.
Noah Heal delivered one of the top performances of the day, finishing fourth in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:31.69 in his first time competing in the event, leading all Division II runners and finishing ahead of a North Florida competitor.
On the field side,
Nathan Davis recorded a throw of 47.32 meters in the javelin to place 16th overall.
