DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Freshman Mikey Roberts delivered a standout performance on day one of the SSC Outdoor Track Championships, qualifying for the 400m final and setting multiple personal records. Roberts was one of three Panthers to advance to finals competition and one of six to record new career-best marks.

Diego Estebanes opened the day for Tech in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing 12th with a time of 16.65.

The spotlight quickly shifted to the 400-meter dash, where Roberts impressed on the big stage, clocking a personal-best 47.91 to place sixth and earn a spot in Saturday's final. Malachi Johnson followed closely behind, finishing seventh in 48.52 while winning his heat to also advance. Filippo Bessi and Ese Oguma placed 10th and 13th, respectively.

Noah Heal continued his strong progression in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, placing fourth and scoring five points for the Panthers with a personal-best 9:30.39 in just his third time competing in the event.

In the 100-meter dash, Oguma finished 12th while Austin Clate recorded a personal-best performance for 14th place. Alex Moynihan crossed in 21st with a time of 11.82.
Senior Brycen Haner capped his SSC Championship career with a personal-best 1:58.85 in the 800-meter, finishing 17th. Jason Hargesheimer placed 15th, while Jake Greene also set a personal record of 1:59.53 to take 19th.

Estebanes returned in the 400-meter hurdles and qualified for the final with a personal-best time of 55.29, finishing sixth. Bessi added another top-10 finish in the same event.

Roberts closed his day in the 200-meter, recording another personal best at 21.97 for 13th place. Clate finished just ahead in 11th with a season-best 21.93.

As a team, Florida Tech recorded six top-10 finishes and eight more top-15 results on day one, sitting in third place heading into the final day with 10 events remaining.
