Box Score BOCA RATON, Fla. (Volleyball) – Still looking for its first road victory against a Sunshine State Conference opponent, Florida Tech was back in South Florida to face Lynn for the second time this season. The Panthers (11-11, 2-8 SSC) were hoping for a repeat performance from the teams' previous meeting, but instead were given a taste of their own medicine, falling to Lynn (13-9, 4-6 SSC) on Friday night in straight sets (25-14, 25-18, 25-16).
The result evened up the season series between the two conference foes. FIT won the earlier matchup, also in a sweep, on Sept. 26 in Melbourne.
The Panthers had one of their worst offensive performances in this one, as the team was held to its second-lowest kill output and second-lowest attack percentage this season at 23 and .076, respectively.
Leading the Panthers was Kim Juriga with eight kills on 18 attempts, while Alea Hamm tacked on five kills on a team-high attack percentage of .400 to go along with a match-high five blocks. Ashtin Truesdale dished out 11 assists and Becca Bower collected 12 digs in the loss.
Cristina Llorens paced the Fighting Knights with a double-double on a match-best 10 kills and 12 digs. Lydia West contributed to her team's effort with nine kills on 16 attempts, and Marissa Tandron recorded a match-high 35 assists.
Despite the apparent dominance by the Fighting Knights on the scoreboard, FIT did show their strength on the defensive side of the net. The Panthers registered 11 total blocks to Lynn's two for the match, and forced the Fighting Knights into 15 attack errors.
FIT hopes to end its troubles on the road in its rematch with SSC rival Nova Southeastern Saturday afternoon at 4 p.m. ET. The Panthers still remember their heart-breaking five-set defeat to NSU earlier this season on Sept. 25 at the Clemente Center.
