Abby Briggs and
Efe Ongoren have been named Sunshine State Conference Swimmers of the Week, as announced by the league office, Monday.
Abby Briggs, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, earned SSC Women's Swimmer of the Week for her performance against Rollins on Saturday, Oct. 4. Briggs placed first in the 1000 Free as she swam a time of 11:00.94. She earned another individual first-place finish in the 500 Free with a time of 5:24.13, more than 10 seconds ahead of second place.
Briggs also helped the 200 Free Relay team to a first-place finish with a total time of 1:40.10. She swam the final leg in 24.61, the fastest of any swimmer in the event.
Efe Ongoren, a sophomore from Sakarya, Turkey, earned SSC Men's Swimmer of the Week for his performance against Rollins on Saturday, Oct. 4. Ongoren won the 200 Free with a time of 1:42.04. In the 500 Free, Ongoren placed first with a time of 4:46.30.
Ongoren helped the 200 Free Relay to a second-place finish with a total time of 1:26.91.
Briggs, Ongoren and the rest of the Panthers are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 11 as they take on Florida Southern.
