OCALA, Fla. – The Florida Tech swimming programs opened competition in the 2025 Sunshine State Championships on Wednesday night at the Florida Aquatics Swimming and Training (FAST).
As is tradition, relays had the stage for the first night of competition with the 800 Free Relays for the men and women front and center.
Amongst the women's teams, the quartet of Abby Briggs, Kate Helminiak, Debora Xavier, and Miranda Olhasso finished fifth with a time of 7:42.80. The team of Kiera Ceely, Maja Malarz, Torie Whitbeck, and Sam Bullard finished with 7:50.24.
For the men's teams, the group of Efe Ongoren, Adam Szczerba, Akos Hajagos, and Josh McLean were disqualified from the A final due to an early take-off. The squad of George Jekov, David Armstrong, Brayden Hohman, and Connor Bryant took fourth in the B Final with a 6:51.14 finish.
UP NEXT: Day two of the SSC Championships continues tomorrow, beginning with the prelims at 10 A.M., followed by the start of the finals at 6 P.M. Amongst the events scheduled for Thursday are the 200 IM, 50 Free, 1000 Free, and 200 Medley Relay.
