TAMPA, Fla. - The Panther men's outdoor track team began the 2025 season on Saturday at the UTampa Invite at Pepin Stadium.
Tech's first event of the evening was the 400 Meter Hurdles, which saw Tech's three competitors in the event all finish in the top five with Filippo Bessi finishing second thanks to a time of 54.38. Diego Estebanes (57.48) placed fourth and Jason Hargesheimer (57.98) took fifth.
Dominic Longobardi earned eighth place in the 1500 meters by crossing the finish line at 4:02.63. Joshua Fernandez finished 38th at 4:26.92.
Akpan Nsikak was the fastest Crimson and Gray runner in the 400 Meters, taking home fourth place with a 50.87 finish. Estebanes grabbed 14th, crossing the line at 54.62.
The 200 Meters saw Bradley Erskine (22.75), Bessi (22.77) and Hargesheimer (23.04) take the 12th, 13th and 14th, respectively.
Lachlan McCure was the first Panther runner across the line in the 3000 Meters, finishing sixth thanks to a time of 8:45.16. Jake Greene (9:02.82) nabbed 14th and Jack Schule (9:03.82) finished 16th.
Benjamin Peck's fantastic freshman season continued by earning seventh in the 5000 Meters by reaching the finish line in 14:39.29. Niels Buitenhuis' time of 15:08.62 was good for 14th place, while Tyler Herrera nabbed a 19th place finish with his time of 15:16.51 and Thomas Carpenter's 15:19.02 was good for 21st.
