MELBOURNE, FLA. – The Sunshine State Conference has announced the Players of the Week for this past week's games. Marcello Cortale has earned Baseball's Player of the Week for his outstanding weekend in the Panthers sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic.

Cortale began his weekend in Friday's series opener by launching three home runs for 6 RBI in Tech's 18-6 win over PBA. He hit all three home runs in three straight at-bats across four innings as the Panthers routed the Sailfish.

In game two of the series, his bat stayed hot as he went 3-5 with 2 RBI to power the Panthers to an 8-1 win. He smashed his fourth home run of the weekend and added two singles. Marcello finished the weekend with a 1-3 game three. He roped an RBI double, drew a walk and added a stolen base. Tech finished the sweep of PBA, outscoring the Sailfish 34-9 behind Marcello's power bat.

In total, Cortale went 7/14 for a .500 batting average with 4 home runs, nine runs batted in, a double, a walk and a stolen base. The Freshman has become one of the Panthers premier hitters in the early stages of the season. On the year, he is tied for second in the Sunshine State Conference with six home runs and is in the top ten in runs batted in.
