The 1989-90 men's basketball team was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. The Panthers went 25-2, including an 11-1 record in the Sunshine State Conference, to earn a share of the league's men's basketball regular season championship for the first time in program history. Florida Tech earned its first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, defeating Norfolk State, 73-63, in the South Atlantic regional semifinal to make it to the Sweet 16. During the season, the team was ranked as high as third in the nation.

Dwight Walton earned both All-SSC First Team and NABC All-America Third Team honors. Astley Smith was named First Team All-SSC, too, while Davon Kelly was named to the second team. Tom Folliard Sr. was named SSC Co-Coach of the Year.

The team included Joe McManus, Davon Kelly, Astley Smith, Mike Smith, Dave Murphy, Dave Love, Igor Beros, Jamie Lathrop, Doug Newbert, Dwight Walton, Craig Burnett, Robert Sewell, Jim Krantz, Ray Paprocky, Chris Rose, Tom Folliard Sr. (Head Coach)
