Steve Condotta was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame on March 19, 2016. Condotta started all 187 games he played during his four-year career at Florida Tech from 2004-07. He finished as one of the best offensive shortstops in the baseball program’s history and still holds program marks for hits (257), runs scored (175), stolen bases (76), and at-bats (723). After the end of his collegiate career, the shortstop was drafted by the Blue Jays in the 13th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft
Condotta finished his career with a bang, hitting above .400 at .431 while also tallying 50 runs, 11 doubles, two triples, four home runs, 50 RBI, 42 stolen bases, and 30 walks. He nearly doubled his season RBI total and surpassed his previous three years combined in stolen bases. The 42 stolen bases ranked sixth in Division II, and his .431 batting average and .504 on-base percentage were among the best in the SSC.
In his senior season, Condotta's prowess was recognized with a multitude of awards. He earned All-SSC First Team honors and was a standout on the All-South Region First teams of NCBWA, ABCA, and Daktronics. NCBWA bestowed upon him the prestigious All-America First Team title, while ABCA and Daktronics recognized him with the All-America Third Team. The Canadian Baseball Network, for the second consecutive season, placed him on the All-Canadian First Team. To cap it all off, he was honored as the Florida Tech Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, a testament to his academic and athletic excellence.
He batted .377 in his junior season, with 46 runs, 12 doubles, three triples, four home runs, 29 RBI, and eight walks. The Canadien Baseball Network recognized him on the All-Canadien First Team for the first time.
Condotta batted over .300 in his sophomore season for his second consecutive season with a .313. He also compiled 49 runs, 13 doubles, 20 RBI, 16 stolen bases and 15 walks. The conference recognized the shortstops achievements with a spot on the All-SSC Second Team in 2005. He also made the Canadian Baseball Network All-Canadian Honorable Mention list.
He did not take long to transition to college ball as he hit for .302 his freshman season. Condotta also tallied 30 runs, six doubles, 12 RBI, 11 stolen bases and 14 walks.
Condotta's commitment to excellence extended beyond the baseball field. He was a consistent presence on the Florida Tech Dean's List, maintaining his academic standing for all eight semesters. His dedication to his studies was further recognized by his inclusion in the SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll from 2003-07, a testament to his well-roundedness as a scholar-athlete.
