Sara Trané participated in women's cross country in 2009 and was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 20, 2015. Trané became Florida Tech's first women's cross country All-American and USTFCCCA Female South Region Athlete of the Year. She was also the first in program history to win the NCAA South Region Championships.

In a single year, Sara Trané conquered the NCAA South Region Championships at 21:37 and the SSC Championships at 21:10.32, both in the grueling 6K. She then secured a commendable 15th place at the NCAA DII Championships at 21:29 in the 6K. Her victories at the University of Tampa Early Bird Classic, Florida Tech Invitational, and three-time recognition as SSC Runner of the Week paved the way for her to be crowned SSC Conference Runner of the Year. She was also honored as a USTFCCCA All-South Region selection.

Academically, Trané earned a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and was on the SSC Commissioner's Fall Honor Roll.

Before coming to Florida Tech, Trané competed in Cross Country and Track & Field at Washington State from 2005-09. She won the 3,000-meter Steeplechase at the Pac-10 Championships in 2007 and 2008. Trané was also named Pac-10 Tom Hansen Conference Medal Winner in 2008-09. She also made it to the All-Academic level throughout her Washington State career.
