Lynisha Nelson, a shining example of perseverance and determination, was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 2018. Nelson's name is etched throughout the Florida Tech women's basketball record books, a testament to her relentless dedication, after playing from 2007-2011. The Melbourne, Florida native is top-five in points (1,695), assists (605), three-pointers (189), free throws made (488), steals (409), and games played (114). Nelson's unwavering spirit is evident in her 8 or more steals in a game four times in her career. She was an All-SSC First Team member and was selected to the Daktronics All-South Region Second Team three consecutive seasons.

Nelson's senior season was a testament to her leadership and impact on the team. Starting in 30 games, she had one of the best seasons of any Panther ever. Nelson not only led the team in points per game (16.0), points scored (527), field goal attempts (453), field goals made (155), free throw attempts (206), free throws made (164), assists (192) and steals (122), but also set new records. The 527 points are the 10th most in a season by a Panther. The 192 assists were the third most, and the 122 steals were the second most ever by a Panther. Nelson's 14 steals in a game against Anderson are the most ever in program history. Her impressive defensive efforts were recognized with an SSC Defensive Player of the Year award.

In her junior season, Nelson led the team in many categories, including games started and played (27/28), minutes per game (30.9), field goals made (123), free throws made (134), and points per game (15.1). She led the conference with 157 assists and 93 steals. Nelson registered at least one steal in all but one game, which included a 24-game streak.

She provided explosive offense and defense, leading the team in points with 390, averaging 14.4 ppg, in steals and assists with 105 and 139, respectively. She was awarded her first SSC Defensive Player of the Year and All-SSC First Team honors.

Nelson played and started as a true freshman in 26 of the team's 27 games. She led the team in minutes (797), made free throws (96), assisted (117) and stole (89). Nelson tied the team lead or led the team in scoring in 11 games.
