Florida Tech President and CEO Anthony J. Catanese was inducted into the Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014. As president, Florida Tech grew in both athletics and academics. He also served as the President of the Sunshine State Conference from 2007-08 to 2008-09.

During his tenure as President, athletics expanded from 10 varsity programs to 22. He added football, men’s and women’s golf, men’s and women’s lacrosse, women’s soccer, men’s and women’s swimming, men’s and women’s tennis, and men’s and women’s track & field. Three new facilities were built in The Panther Aquatic Center, Varsity Training Center, and the Time Wakefield Batting Cage. Other facilities saw enhancement, such as adding field lights to baseball’s Andy Seminick-Les Hall Field and soccer’s Rick Stottler Field. Florida Tech teams have won one NCAA II Individual National Championship, two NCAA South Region Team Championships, eight SSC  Championships and qualified for 59 NCAA Championships under President and CEO Catanese. Catanese was inducted into the Space Coast Sports Hall of Fame as a Sports Visionary 2012.

As a university, Florida Tech was ranked in the top 200 of the London Times Higher Education World University Rankings in 2013-14. Cuteness also made the university a Tier One Best National University in the U.S. News and World Report. He launched a $100 million “Create the Future” campaign in 2014 and a Golden Anniversary Campaign that raised $60 million in 2009.
