Steve Freeman, a standout member of the men's soccer team from 1986-89, was inducted into the prestigious Florida Tech Sports Hall of Fame in 1995. He helped lead the Panthers to their first-ever national championship in any sport in 1988. Freeman was a four-time All-SSC, all-South Region first-team selection, and a two-time All-American in 1988 and 1989. He finished his career with 73 games played, 47 goals, 63 assists, and 157 points.

In his senior season, Freeman recorded 17 assists for the second straight season, the fourth-highest total in program history. He helped the team share the SSC Regular-Season Title with Tampa and an NCAA Tournament appearance after a 17-3 record. Freeman earned All-SSC and All-American First Team honors.

The 1988 season was historic for the Panthers, and Steve Freeman helped the team win its first NCAA Division II Men's Soccer National Championship Title. He compiled 17 assists, including assisting the winning goal in the championship game against Cal State-Northridge. He earned the program's first All-American First Team honors. Freeman also received an SSC First Team selection. 

Freeman was named to the All-SSC First Team in 1986 and 1987 and helped the Panthers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
